Search Engine Optimization

Google Search Results for Local Business

Wikipedia:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.

In English, what they’re trying to say is that SEO is all about being found. Being found by people looking for your businesses services or products. That’s why you needed a website in the first place, right? Having a website that nobody visits is a waste of you’re valuable yet limited resources!

SEO is more Art than Science. We use “white-hat” SEO tactics to achieve goals based on you’re keyword focused goals.

Localization is also an essential part of SEO for many web businesses and “non-web” businesses. For example, a roofer in Winnipeg only gets business from customers in Winnipeg. If someone in Calgary Google’s “roofer”, and they come accross Central Roofing in Winnipeg, not only has the guy in Calgary not found what he needs, it does nothing to achieve the goals of Central Roofing in Winnipeg. At the same time, Central Roofing wants to be found by search engine users in Winnipeg who search for terms such as “roofing”, but also terms like “shingles” (and not the unfortunate people with the disease).

A strong SEO strategy makes tactical implementation much easier and more effective. Many essential SEO goals can be achieved automatically through the proper use of Content Management Systems. Good website Analytics data is invaluable when defining, or refining SEO strategies and tactics.
